The sunlight spackled across the ocean, reminding Sadie of that which would always be hidden within it. Other women came here to relax - to enjoy the cooling breeze, to tan, and to play in its shallows - but for her it was a torture just being here. If she'd been stronger willed she'd not be here today, but it was impossible for her to stay away, the memories haunting her every night, her ears always alert for her daughter's voice. If only she had could have been here for her that one time it mattered

She stood there watching the tide wiping away her footprints like they were never there. Why can’t this be the same for the footprints he left on my heart after he walked away?

The ocean always calms her turbulent mind; her mind is like the ocean it never sleeps. She’s like the ocean calm then in a second the waves crashing against the shore leaving its marks deep upon the sands she stands upon

As I gazed at the ocean that lay between us, I thought of the man I had never met and might never meet. His words brought meaning to my life and reminded me that I have much more life to live. My existence mattered to someone, and that warmed my soul.

That had to be the weirdest experience of this entire incarnation.
